The School of Visual Arts recently had an exhibition on the Design of Dissent created by legendary graphic designer and SVA faculty member Milton Glazer and SVA faculty Mirko Ilic. The exhibition celebrates both activist art and the publication of Glazer's book of the same name. The exhibition website has some great and inspiring art for a unit on activist art, but preview the images before you show.
For breaking information on activist art, check out Visual Resistance, a blog that "aim[s] to explore the spaces where art and activism interact and help develop a visual language for political action".
