In Nova Scotia, I had the opportunity to meet printmaker Bob Hainstock after finding some of his beautiful work in a local gallery. At his studio, he explained his process of making prints from scraps of rusting metal, where the oxidation created wonderful patterns that he often works further into with pastels. For more examples, see his galleries of rust collagraphs and mixed media
Bob's work provides great inspiration for working with non-traditional materials, even if keeping scraps of rusting metal in your classroom gives you the willies.
