The epic story of how humans made art and art made us human
How Art Made the World is co-production of the BBC and PBS about the history of how art has shaped and affected us as human beings. Just browsing the site (which is a companion piece to the television series) you find plenty of interesting discussion points to the questions that inevitably come up in every art class- why is it important to study art?
The site also features pictures, videos, lesson plans, and interactive storytelling (coming soon).

I found this link to be really helpful in my classroom. It is surprisingly interesting and moves along at a good clip so as not to get too boring. Thanks for the link!
