Ubuweb

Apologies for slacking on the posting this week. I'm going to make it up to you. The subject of today's post should keep you glued to your computer for a while - just in time for the end of TV Turnoff Week.

Ubuweb is an invaluable and exhaustingly comprehensive resource for all things avant garde, ethnopoetic, and outsider art.

In the film and video section there are incredible rarities like Marcel Duchamp's Anemic Cinema, and classics like Bunuel's Un Chien Andalou. However, one of the gems of this set has to be the Collected Works of Myra Deren, including her revolutionary Meshes of the Afternoon a film credited with establishing the New American Cinema.

There is also a wealth of sound files, including Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape and an interview with Salvador Dali.

Finally, for those of you interested in researching these topics yourself, or have students who are doing research, there is a section dedicated to papers and documents relating to avant garde and outsider art.
