Inspiration is for Amateurs

“Inspiration is for amateurs. I just get to work.” — Chuck Close

I'm going to post that in my classroom.

43 Folders, a productivity blog, has some great observations that riff off of Terry Gross' interview of Chuck Close on NPR.

And, sorry, all those romantic notions you have of absinthe spoons, manic episodes and Kerouac-like rambling on a long roll of butcher paper really aren’t operative. Creative work is mostly showing up every day and enduring a million tiny failures as you feel your way to something a bit new.

    usually, that is completely true.

sometimes, though, it has a little bit to do with absinthe.

Well said! Unfortunately, my admin has been unimpressed with my idea to use it as an inspiration in the classroom. What can you do?
