Revolt.

News like this always makes me sad for the future of education. Sydney McGee, an art teacher who had been teaching for 28 years and was a recipient of the Star Teacher Award has been removed from her job because her kids saw a naked sculpture at a museum.

According to the article, Principal Nancy Lawson encouraged the trip and later admonished McGee for allowing the children to see the art. If you think this whole situation is as ridiculous as I do, perhaps you'd like to tell her that:

Principal: Nancy Lawson
2500 Old Orchard Dr.
Frisco, TX 75034
Phone: 469.633.2600
Fax: 469.633.2650

If you want to register your complaint with the administration:

Rick Reedy: Superintendent of Schools
Send him an email.

Debra Nelson: Asst. Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Send her an email.

Granster... here's a reply to my email regarding the teacher...

"There is much more to it but our severance agreement does not allow me to discuss it. There was plenty of material in the media given the "rest of the story". Please know that we have never fired - and never will fire - a teacher for such as was described in various irresponsible media."

These days, it's hard to tell what's true and not true in the media, wouldn't you agree?

I myself didn't get a reply, but I will post your reply on the blog (or you could do that, fellow CR member! ) ;)
